July 2011 Update to the Parish

Report to the Parish Regarding the Parish Council Meetings

The July meeting was primarily focused on Stewardship.  We are consolidating the regular Stewardship Committee and the Capital Campaign into one “Stewardship Ministry” by October of this year.  Our contract with Church Development has expired; however, we will continue to receive support for the next couple of years.

Please join me in thanking Harry Zecy, Phil Wood and Don Tunks for their efforts as co-chairman of the Stewardship Committee this year.  We are working to identify new leadership for this Ministry in the coming months, while the existing group continues to plan for our future.  More information regarding Stewardship Sunday and our 2012 financial plan will be released in the next several weeks.
We are pleased to report that the EOYC fulfilled all incorporation and insurance requirements.  From all reports they had a great time at camp this year.

We discussed the annual Festival Chairman position.  Dave McClain has carried this heavy load for several years and we should all take time to thank Dave.  As you might expect, this is a time consuming job.  The Parish Council is developing a plan for our 2012 Festival and will present this plan at our next General Assembly Meeting.

Please mark you calendars for two General Assemblies this year.   Our first one will be September 25 where we will present the financial results of the Festival, approve a new chairperson for the festival and present our plan for future festivals.  In addition we will elect the Audit and Election Committees and finally we will accept nominations for Parish Council Elections.

November 13th will be our second General Assembly meeting where we will approve the 2012 budget, approve various Capital Improvements, elect Clergy Laity Representatives and elect Parish Council Members.  Official notices for these meetings will be mailed a few weeks prior to each.

The General Assembly meetings are where the community makes the "Big" decisions.  Please make a real effort to attend and participate in these very important events.

Thank You…

Tom Vleisides, Parish Council President
